Get a QuoteClay goes through different stages as it dries out. It starts off in its workable soft wet state. Then as it dries it becomes leather hard. Leather hard clay is still damp, but it has dried out enough to become hard. As it dries out further it eventually becomes bone dry. It's never a good idea to put wet or leather hard clay in the kiln.
